Laser Output Quality Optimization

Every laser system model has individual characteristics in color handling and scanning behavior. That’s why it is essential to not only specify the correct scan rate and Threshold of the color channels, but also the way the software handles the display of points, fading and blanking. The Output optimization Settings depend on each other, which means that changing one value may require the re-adjustment of another one. However, these adjustments are essential for achieving a high quality output.

The standard settings in Laserworld Showeditor were defined in a way that they work with any Scanner system without destroying it. This means that the performance of the scanners can be significantly increased by optimizing the settings and making the fit the actual laser setup.

  1. Open Options -> Output Optimization
  2. Scan rate
Set the desired scan rate first, before making any output optimizations. For instructions on setting the correct scan rate / scan speed, please refer to the separate Tutorial Adjust Scanner Settings, Set The Correct Scan Speed / Scan Rate (kpps)
  3. Output Optimization
Set all point optimization options (Extra-Points, Line Start, Corner-Points, etc.) to the minimum value. Leave the settings for Max.Distance unchanged!
  4. Color Shift optimization:
The color shift settings depend on the interpolation distance as well as on the scan speed (pps). Due to this it may be necessary to adjust the color shift settings if one of the before mentioned has been changed.
    1. Open the test figure BlankShift_EachSide from the figure set loaded through the menu item Test-Pictures
    2. Project the figure to a wall or screen
    3. Adjust the color shift settings per color: The start and end points per side of the triangle must be displayed in the correct color, so no color overlaps to another side. Round corners and non-accurate figure display can be ignored for setting the color shift – these adjustments are done in the following steps.
  5. Interpolation, max. distances, Extra points, etc.
    1. Open the test figure Ilda12K from the figure set loaded through the menu item Test-Pictures
    2. Please see the Manual for the descriptions of each option to understand what each setting is actually changing.
    3. Slowly increase each value and see how it affects the test figure. Make sure to always listen to the sound of the scanners, so they are not pushed too hard. If they tend to make a screaming noise, immediately reduce the value that has led to this.

Be careful: Wrong settings can destroy your galvo scanner system!
