Hello,
there are different ways to use the ShowNET.... may be this Manual will help?

at least cou could control the Shownet via DMX / ArtNET, or Automatik, or LaserSoftware. But i do not know wich laser software is usable with iPad.

Have you tried TouchOSC? I've had luck with other applications that are MIDI-compliant.
